As well as paying the rent, you may also be required to make the following 'permitted payments':
Before the tenancy starts (payable to Assured Lettings ‘the Agent’)
Holding Deposit: One weeks' rent
Tenancy Deposit: Five weeks’ rent (where the total annual rent for the property is less than £50,000) or up to six weeks’ rent (where the total annual rent is £50,000 or more)
During the tenancy (payable to Assured Lettings ‘the Agent’)
Payment of up to £50 (per variation) if you want to make a change to the tenancy agreement
Payment of interest for the late payment of rent at a rate of 3% above the Bank of England’s base rate for each day that the payment has been outstanding
Payment for the loss of keys/security devices (will be charged at cost)
Early termination of tenancy: tenant shall be liable to cover the landlord’s costs in re-letting the property (see Landlord Fees page on our website) as well as all rent and bills due under the tenancy until the start date of the replacement tenancy. These costs will be no more than the maximum amount of rent outstanding on the tenancy
During the tenancy (payable to the provider) if permitted and applicable
Utilities: gas, electricity and water
Communications: telephone and broadband
Installation of cable/satellite
Subscription to cable/satellite supplier
Television licence
Council tax
Other permitted payments
Any other permitted payments, not included above, under the relevant legislation including contractual damages.
Company tenancies
If a company is taking out a tenancy, in addition to the permitted payments detailed above, the company would also be required to pay an application fee of £400 and termination fee of £50.
